Mission: “Captain Mick Nealey, an experienced Keys captain and guide, has launched Active Disabled Americans dba Tranquil Adventures, a charter , tour and cruise operation. What sets this venture apart from others, however, is that it is configured to cater to people with disabilities, rather than just let them tag along if they can somehow get aboard. Nealey, founder and operator of Active Disabled Americans and a victim of polio at age 2, considers himself able bodied even though he sometimes uses a wheelchair himself. ‘I knew from an early age that I’d never be able to run as fast as the other kids,’ he said, ‘but I was always stronger. My disability never stopped me from doing anything I wanted.’ While other companies are interested in just taking you out for a boat ride, our company is dedicated to helping you enjoy a tranquil time while creating a memorable moment. We modify equipment to help with fishing, snorkeling, diving or paddling a kayak.”

Mission: “Our goal is to preserve the land for future generations. To protect the wild life, plants, wet lands, forests, beaches, and even the deserts. Everything was placed on this planet for a reason. There are many different philosophies as to who or what created our planet. But, it is a fact that each and every thing that is on our planet is interdependent on and upon each other. There are quite a few ecological Non Profits in existence and they have varying philosophies. What we do is cut through the red tape and politics and purchase or have donated land to us for the sole purpose of conservation. Where this land will never be tampered with in the future. We also acquire land and return it to it’s natural state. This is what we do. This is our purpose.”

Marine Mammals are under a constant barrage of environmental pressures threatening the health and perseverance of their species. If we are to help ensure these extraordinary creatures continued success in our oceans we must first identify essential conservation needs. It is our mission at the Marine Mammal Conservancy to provide professional and effective response and care for stranded marine mammals. Through this effort we will add to the overall understanding of marine mammals on both the scientific and public fronts. Via data collection, during both necropsies and rehabilitation, and through public education we will help ensure the success of an inspiring and threatened group of animals.
